I recieved my costum made branding iron in the post yesterday, and since getting it I’ve gone branding mad, branding anything I think will brand. I even considered branding my shoes at one stage.
The branding iron head is 20×70 milled brass. The branding iron is a 250watt electric branding iron. I also got a tempeture control unit and an industrial voltage converter. Just got to make more furniture now so I can brand it.

PTOLEMAEUS: IRELAND circa 150 A.D.
A modern reconstruction by Prof F.J. Byrne.
While there are many references to Ireland in classical Greek and Roman literature, the earliest specific geogrphical data was recorded at Alexandria in the secound century A.D. by Greek astronomer and geographer, Ptolemy. It does not have a map of Ireland but lists the latitude and longitude of sixty features of the country- estuaries, promontories, towns or forts, tribes, islands and the four surrounding oceans. The identifican of many of features is uncertain but generally the data seems more acomplete and more reliable for the eastern regions, reflecting the greater famliarty of salors and traders- ptolemy’s ultimate sources- with that side of the country.

Stockholm Furniture Fair
Last month I applied to the organisers of the Stockholm Furniture Fair to be considered for inclusion in their Greenhouse exhibition Area. And Yesterday they got back to me and said yes.
Here’s a bit from their website-
“Greenhouse is the special section for selected international design schools and newly qualified designers – individuals with more creative energy than financial muscle. The aim is to create the opportunity for exciting meetings and fruitful partnerships between the industry of today and the design profiles of tomorrow.”

Something else Exhibition
Small Wooden Stools is the result of a collabration between Jo Anne Butler and Gearoid Muldowney of Superfolk design studio. The stools are loosely based on the ad hoc tradition of Irish vernacular furniture. The three diffrent sizes are intended to instigate a more playfull and inventive use of the stools. The stools can also be connected together an various arangements to create beenches, tables, foot stools etc.
Stools will be soon be available from the “Irish Design Shop”
